Having car insurance is a legal requirement to drive on the UK public roads. The minimum cover you can buy is Third Party, but some insurers won't sell you this cover on its own as it does not cover the insurer in cases where the car is stolen or where the fault lies with the insurer. It may also be the case with more than car insurance online.
It's hard enough to find more than car insurance online, but if you have penalty points on your licence it's even harder, so why not use our list of insurers to find
the best deal. Take your time and make sure you fully understand any terms and conditions.
If you have previously been banned or currently have lots of penalty points you can still get insurance but most likely at a higher rate.
You should be aware that if you only have third party insurance you are not covered if your car is stolen or if you have an acciden that is your fault. Some car insurance companies do not offer third party only options.
Any penalty points you have previously accumulated must be declared to your new insurance company. If you buy a new car insurance policy and do not declare these points, you may risk not being insured should you need to amke a claim.
